Plaud Note Pro Review: How I Use It in My Business
I run my business in Germany. Monetary examples use euros unless another currency is stated.
My Conclusion in 60 Seconds
I’ve been using the Plaud Note Pro since the end of September 2026. What initially impressed me was the design: the device is the size of a credit card and just under 3 millimeters thin. I use it to capture ideas as soon as they arise. These are business ideas, thoughts on ongoing projects, and ideas for new automations. I no longer need to write them down.
The biggest advantage I see is in the interfaces. Plaud can be connected to AI tools via MCP and a command line. MCP is an open standard that allows AI assistants to access other programs. I dictate a task while on the go. When I get to my computer, my AI has already created an entry in my task list.
I recommend Plaud to business owners who have a lot of conversations, meetings, and notes. Those who only occasionally record voice notes can get by with a smartphone.
What is Plaud?
Plaud builds AI dictation devices. The device records conversations, phone calls, and thoughts. The app then creates a transcript, a summary, and, if desired, tasks or texts based on templates. The Plaud Note Pro is the size of a credit card, 2.99 millimeters thin, and weighs 30 grams.
How I Use Plaud in My Business
Previously, I used three methods to record ideas: as a voice message, a voice memo, or an email to myself. Then, they were scattered across three locations, and I had to piece them back together.
Now, it works like this:
- An idea pops into my head, and I dictate it into the Plaud Note Pro. This could be an idea or a task.
- A small program retrieves the recording from my Plaud account to my computer every hour. For this, I don’t need to open the Plaud app or the Plaud website.
- A routine in Claude reads the new recordings. It turns each dictated task into an entry in my task list and prepares for implementation.
This allows me to stay in the flow while I’m focused. I capture a thought in seconds and continue working. The rest is handled by my automations, without me needing to initiate them. That’s what makes Plaud so valuable to me.
What Does Plaud Cost?
Plaud costs in two places: once for the device and, optionally, monthly for a plan with more AI analysis.
| Device | Price | Microphones | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plaud Note Pro | €189.00 | 4 microphones plus 1 VPU, up to 5 m | Up to 30 hours of recording |
| Plaud Note | €169.90 | 2 microphones plus 1 VPU, up to 3 m | Up to 30 hours of recording |
| Plaud NotePin S | €179.00 | 2, up to 3 m | Up to 20 hours of recording |
| Plaud NotePin | €169.90 | 2, up to 3 m | Up to 20 hours of recording |
| Plan | Monthly | Annually (per month) | Transcription Minutes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €0.00 | €0.00 | 300 per month |
| Pro | €19.99 | €9.20 | 1,200 per month |
| Unlimited | €34.99 | €18.70 | Unlimited |
As of: October 18, 2026. Prices according to Plaud. Prices may change.
I started with the free Starter plan and will be switching to Unlimited. Then I won’t have to worry about the minute limits. You don’t need a subscription for the automation itself. The official Plaud command line works for me even on the free plan.
Plaud and Data Privacy: What Business Owners Need to Know
- Legally First: You should only record conversations with the consent of all parties involved. Recording spoken words without authorization is punishable under § 201 of the German Criminal Code.
- Storage Location: Plaud mentions data centers at AWS in the US, in Frankfurt, Japan, and Singapore. According to the Trust Center, data is stored in the appropriate regional data center.
- Contract: The data processing agreement with standard contractual clauses is part of the commercial terms of use.
- Training: According to Plaud, your data is not used for training unless you explicitly agree.
- AI Providers: For summaries, Plaud uses models like GPT, Claude, and Gemini, and says that EU users are served through subcontractors hosted in the EU.
- Certifications: Plaud mentions GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, and EN 18031.
This is not legal advice. If you are recording customer conversations, clarify the use with your data protection officer.
Automatically Synchronize Plaud Without Opening the App
One thing bothers me about Plaud: when you want to further process your recordings, you usually have to open the app and export each recording individually. There’s a way to do this automatically, too.
Plaud has an official command-line interface (npm package @plaud-ai/cli). You initially log in with plaud login. After that, your own script can retrieve your recordings without you needing to open the app. I have mine running every hour: Each recording is saved with Plaud’s summary, highlights, and transcript as a text file in a folder, with the audio file alongside. You can also back up this folder to a private GitHub repository. Your AI routines in Claude or ChatGPT can then access the information from there.
According to Plaud, there is also an MCP server (beta) available, allowing AI assistants to directly access your recordings.
I use plaud-sync to retrieve my new recordings every hour as text and audio files in a folder, without manual exports or copying. On a Mac it installs with a double-click; instructions are available for Windows and Linux. A prepared prompt turns each dictated task into an entry in a task list. Recordings still move from the device to the Plaud account through the Plaud app.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Small and slim: About the size of a credit card and just under 3 millimeters thin.
- Open interfaces: Using MCP and the command line, you can connect Plaud with AI tools and automate dictated tasks.
- Ideas are captured in seconds, without needing paper or a smartphone.
Weaknesses
- Without your own solution, you can only retrieve your recordings through the app.
- Recordings are sent from your device to your Plaud account via the mobile app.
- 300 free minutes per month may not be sufficient for many conversations. You may then need a paid subscription.
Alternatives to Plaud
Voice messages, voice memos, and emails to yourself also work. The downside is that your thoughts end up in various locations.
Here are some other options:
| Alternative | Description | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
| Dictation app on your phone | Recording and transcription without additional hardware | Those who only dictate occasionally |
| tl;dv or Fireflies | AI meeting notes for video calls | Those who primarily speak online |
| Soundcore Work | AI dictation device by Anker | Those who want to compare a second device |
| TicNote | AI dictation device by Mobvoi | Those who want to compare a second device |
I have only tested the Plaud Note Pro. For capturing ideas and dictations on the go, I continue to use it because I can connect it to my AI routines via the command line.
